High Performance cam question????
#1
For a Wolverine, there are 3 choices of cams that I have to choose from as far as lift goes. Could someone tell me if I have this right? I know that a valve spring kit will have to be used on the .430 and the .450. Web Cam makes the .390 and the .430 and Alba has the .450. I need a top end cam and Im pretty sure that the .450 would have the most top end because it has the highest lift of them but could someone tell me if Im right.
.390 = midrange
.430 = more for top end
.450 = all top end
.390 = midrange
.430 = more for top end
.450 = all top end

yes but its is like a 2 stroke, its kinda weak till you get the revs up then it pulls real hard to the non existent red line (be careful or you might end up like me). For a wolverine I suggest 430. If you go with a high compression piston it will feel the same as now all through the bottom end, good bit more on mid range, then feel like a whole new motor on top end.

The reason Im wanting all the top end I can get is because Im going to a FST446 when I can get the money. The kit is going to give me so much low end its not funny, its gonna give me more power all throhgh the powerband but alot of low end. This way its not gonna be slow till I get the revs up. I was just wanting to know about how much the 450 is gonna give me and if it was the cam that was gonna give me the most top end. On a stock motor though, mine wont be but just for the record what will the 430 do for it? Thanks for the replies.

Might want to as FST if they want you to use a specific cam for the kit.
The difference between a 450 and a 430 would be that the power curve would be moved down a lil bit but its still mostly mid-top cam.

Thanks Jakal thats what I thought. Im looking to for the cam that will allow me to have the highest top speed but Im not sure if any of Mickeys cams will have as much lift as the 450. I will find out though. Will these cams allow you to run at a higher top speed, maybe 1-2mph. The reason Im asking is that a top end cam suits my riding style. Then the say, just get a "true" sport bike, well that would be nice but I like the Wolverine and I like the 4x4 and need it.
