Grizzly owners !!

Okay, I'm about to buy a new atv but I have heard about the Grizzly blowing CV joints. What seems to be the problem with these failures?
Is it that they are just weak or are the riders jumping them and causing the joints to fail?
Does installing larger tires cause the problem?
I heard that Yamaha switched to the CV joints sometime in 2002 model??? and since then they have had trouble???
Does anyone know if Yamaha has addressed the issue? Or just blaming the owners and turning their cheek.
I have heard this is one nice atv and I really hate to make a big dollar mistake.
I would appreciate any advice regarding this issue.
Please no advice like "GO BUY A KAWASAKI P650" I have one thank you.

Hey thanks, I did a search and found several 02 Griz owners have had the same problem with the cv joints. It appears that Yamaha is well aware of the problem but it is unknown to me if they have revised the joints. I hope so but 300 bucks each for aftermarket cv joints I have heard about is not something I'm willing to jump into.

There were some guys that did have that problem. Obviously something was wrong with them. Maybe I was lucky. I got mine July 10th, 2001 about 3-4 weeks after the 660 came out, and I never did have any problem with the cv's of any type.
Don't know if they had a bad run of them or what, but I had an early 660 that came out on the good side. I haven't heard that much on this problem in a while, so whatever it was might be in the past now.
If you buy one, I'm going to envy you. It would be nice to own both the 650 and the Grizzly. I would take that pair any day.

There is a group of Grizz owners that I ride with alot. There are 4 02' owners and 7 03' owners. None of the 02's have had any axle probs. There is only ONE 03' rider that hasnt toasted an axle(yet). I myself broke the left rear axle at about 800 miles. Still dont understand why it broke because I was riding on a hard packed dirt road at a normal speed. But other than that, its a tough machine.
