Torque baby Torque!!!

I am pretty sure a stock lightning isn't breaking even 400hp...yet. Wait until 2004's when they go to 3 valve. I know they don't make 500 ft/lbs of torque either.
900 ft/lbs? With those 2 tanks mounted in the bed, how do you have room to haul anything. I have a friend that is about to graduate from a diesel tech school. He has built a 2002 powerstroke that is around 400 hp without spraying anything. Gotta love class projects! First the silver aluminum bottle, then the blue one if needed. He is hoping for 500+hp.

hp vs torque depends on how you ride, if you are in the dunes or long wot spots high hp at a high rpm will be better because you can multiply torque threw the gears, for in the woods riding i would like a little combination, some low end throttle repsonse with a high revving hp. torque is a product of hp at an rpm, if you keep the hp the same and increase the rpm at wich it is produced you in turn increase torque. a diesel quad would suck, if the rpms were at 3000 you made 35 hp and 90 lb/ft of torque vs the raptor or banshee that make 35 ish hp at 6500 rpms but only produce 40 lb/ft of torque, when you go threw the gears to get the same wheel speed the banshee and raptor make more torque than the diesel.
we had some small engines at johndeere that were only 250 hp at 2100 rpm but made 1200 lb/ft of torque at 1400 and could hold it down to almost 1000 rpm. that was on an 8,1 liter, that duramax and power joke arent real diesels, cast block junk.
