Default wolerine question on metal in oil filter

Metal in the filter is pretty common on the Warrior/Wolverine motors. As long as it does not become excessive, I would not worry about it.

Mine has done that since I got it new in 96 and I am still on my original bore and the tranny is still tight and shifts great.

Sounds like dirt entry. Get an oil sample the next time you ride and send it off to get anaylised.

Default wolerine question on metal in oil filter

You said tan colored stuff, does it look like metal, or something else? the reason I ask is mine did that when new,had little chunks of brown stuff, even after the break in period and the metal particles were gone. Turned out to be chunks of the auto clutch shoes being torn up by a broken spring, ended up ruining a trip I was on, got so bad it started to rattle in the clutch case. If the brown peices look like brake material, it could be that, keep an eye on it, after a few oil changes, if it seems worse, or hasn't gotten any better, might not be a bad idea to take the right case cover off and check it out. I may be way off, but metal filings should be silver, not brown or tan.

Some of that is probably due to the valves coming out of adjusment because its new. Its common. My clutch carrier also was grinding up and that caused alot of shavings and it eventually got shavings in the crankshaft and siezed it up. The shavings were really bad on mine when this happened. So if it gets really bad you better check it out because it can result in a blown engine.
