Default Info Request - Spark Plug Wire on Raptor

Hello all, I need some help.

My 2001 "OneRide" Raptor just started breaking up at higher RPMs in any gear. It won't stall completely out but I won't be winning any races. Changing the spark plug has at least momentarily solved the problem. If I fouled the plug then it will be the first one on a four stroke in the last three years. One thing I noticed (besides that it is running rich) is that the wire that goes into the plastic spark plug boot seems to only be held in place by a rubber boot. Is this correct or did my spark plug wire break off where it connects to the spark plug boot?

Thanks for your help,

NotuRaptor

I looked at the diagrams at www.riva-yamaha.com. I guess it is supposed to be separated. I am surprised the wire doesn't wiggle loose and cause more misfires. I can easily pull my wire loose up to 1/2". Oh well, I guess I will see how it goes next time out.

I had the same problem twice, once was the plug (would run great for a minute or 2 then die at any give higher RPM)

and once was the parking brake sensor.
