Mark I went to see PikesPeak last year just to see it and found out the race was 2 weeks later but that race to the clouds is SICK you have to have ***** OF STEEL to race up that. I heard it was wicked to see the race I just went up the mountain. The quads run at speed of 80 mph on a dirt road thats 20 feet wide and 1 mile drop off on the side NO guard rails!!!!!!!

The key to Pikes peak is jetting, you for sure want your quad wide and low...very low, remember going off course means flying in the trees or flying...a long way to the boulder garden below, or if your lucky into the side of the mountain. I was thinking about going to see the race this year although I think you will see more of the race on TV

I see Pikes Peak every morning as it is the view in front of my homes' largest window.
It is one of the greatest races ever. Wide open on a pea gravel / dirt road with hairpin turns, 2000 foot drop offs, and not a road sign in sight
From reading your post so often I assume (probably incorrectly) that your from CA. Just a few notes of advisement if your serious about racing PP. The other post is correct, PP goes up past 14,000 feet. I live at 6,000 and am gasping for air when I run the PP trail. Most of the racers have oxygen tanks in their rides because it sucks to get dizzy at 90 mph when doing a flat, 90 degree turn with a 1000 foot drop off (has ruined peoples day in previous races). Pre-racing last a week so people can dial their rides into the alttitude (no easy task). Jetting is just one concern, fuel mixture is a greater issue.
Anyway, if you decide to come, post it. I'll be sure to come out and cheer you on as you give it a go. And yes, it DOES take a huge set to hammer it down in this race. I've watched many racers feather the pedal the whole way up.
