Default My Carbs Cavitate

Hey Guys,
I was just wondering if it is normal for my carbs to cavitate like that.I just finished installing my new yoshi and jets and when i started it I noticed my carbs moving. It seems those little boots between the carbs are cavitating. It seems to run great but I havn't had it out for my plug chop yet.Anything you guys can tell me about this topic would be greatly helpful,I dont want to get out there and blow my carbs off or something.
Later Thx

What do you mean by cavitate? If you are talking about vibrating or pulsing, mine does that also. I have a Yoshi pie to.

I have noticed that EVERY part on my quad vibrates at idle, except the engine. If I put my hands on the carbs, gas tank. rear end, front bumper - I can feel vibration at all of them. But if I put my hand on the engine itself - smooth as silk, no vibrations. IS THIS NORMAL?

My carb boots do the same thing. I won't worry about it. I could be wrong but I think they all do it.

The boots are made to flex to dampen vibration and to prevent stress from being transferred to solid parts like the carb mounts and causing cracks or breaks. The term 'cavitation' refers to pumps, ,mostly centrifical vane types, when air is trapped in the inlet and causes the pump vanes to "slap" in the open spaces, pressure greatly drops and the pump rattles and vibrates, eventually causing damage to pump and parts. You may have seen the boots flex a little, looking liked they caved in,so cavitation seems like the correct term. Just providing a little clarification on terms, please don't take this as a poke at you or anything, just making sure everyone is clear on what is happening with your quad.

Default My Carbs Cavitate

Thank you much wolv95 for the technical description.I only worried cause I work at a sugar factory and we deal with large amounts of water heated to the piont of flashing (120*C plus)and i have seen 1 inch steel lids and tanks do that same thing. In this case cavitating is bad and a scarything thin to see knowing the temp of the fluid inside. That is why when I saw my carb boots pumping like this I automatically assumed it to be a bad thing.I dont remember seeing them do that in stock trim before,so I assumed I had not done something right when I jetted.I have noticed that the pulsing subsides more when you get on the gas whichs makes me think that at idle im not moving enough air thus creating temporary vacuum conditions inside the boots. But like I said before it runs great,so im not gonna worry.I might just go ahead and zip tie the carbs on for good measure since Raptors have had some problems with blowing the carbs off their boots.
thx again for the input guys
