You don't need a seriously high hp raptor to start in second. Make you gearing 12 on front and 43 on back, this freaking works great! I can start in second at the bottom of the hill and get into 4th by the top!! With that gearing I can beat ALL Raptors modded similar to mine! Trust me, give it a try! Good luck!!

so your atleast going up in third, because it wants to go up in third but sometimes not enough power(Unless i get a running start),and second i cant get no more speed from it.andby the time im up the hill, going to a 12 tooth front and try that first then maybe go to the 43 rear.

I'm with BigBubba, gear that sucker so you can use everything the motor's got. Unless you are after some sort of top speed record, the Raptor will try to rip your arms off with the higher numerical gearing. On a MX-style track, I believe acceleration far outweighs a few extra shifts here and there. We'll see for sure next month:-)

FWIW, a piped and jetted Banshee is the only machine I've gone against that can sometimes get the holeshot and if I only had 20 more feet....:-) Z400, 440EX, and DS650 don't even come close, they say my bike is brutal. Sliding through a 2nd gear turn is an incredible rush when the tires hook up and you freakin' LAUNCH!

Oops, sorry guys. I see that you are talking about dune riding. Don't know if my post helps the thread or not since I don't ride dunes (yet?). I imagine the same theory applies and you could gear your dune Raptor to keep accelerating all the way up the hill in 3rd.

So should i get a better an bigger rear to go along with the 12 tooth front, like a 42 or 43,which one?

Should i try the 12 out first and then geta 42 or 43 rear...i ride sand and desert ,more hill climbing and wood runs..
