Default gearing a raptor

I wasn't happy with my Raptor in the woods with stock gearing and REALLY unhappy when I went to 22" rears. Geared way too high (numerically low) to control it in 1st gear in tight trails without slipping the clutch more than I like. I ordered the 12 front and 44 rear at the same time and planned to do the rear first and then the front. I learned quickly that a 44 won't fit on the rear with a 13 up front so I went ahead and changed both at once. FYI, 12/44 is the max for the stock length chain and I wouldn't advise it on a brand new chain, it's really a tight fit. I'm addicted to acceleration and haven't found that I shift too often so I'm going to keep mine at 12/44. A 42 or 43 rear might be better for you if you ride more in the top of 5th.

I may lose a drag race on a very long straight where top speed starts to outweigh acceleration but I won't lose many between here and the next corner:-)

Big bubbas gear combos are great with a 20in tireand stock motor(external mods)...with a pumped motor it will pull those stock gears better.
