If its stuck it might be a little difficult to get off. But it will come off. If it doesnt come off we'll get together out at our shop and we'll get it off for you. k?

Ya, if it's been on there since '89 then it's prolly stuck pretty good. Just give it a good beating.

I got it off. Took some slaming, but its off, man those bearings were shot, and the splines were all rusted.
Hey, Dabeechman thanks for the offer.

Default replacing banshee axel?

When I built my TT bike about eight months ago, I switched the LSR axle that was in my playbike for the stocker in my now TT bike. I tried to take the axle out of my playbike the other night to change bearings. I worked for 2 hours just trying to get the axle nut off!!!! I had an 18" cresent wrench and couldn't budge it. I finally got it off about half an hour ago. It took a torch with a rose bud, the 18" cresent with a 7 foot long (no joke) cheater pipe, a 6 foot pipe to go between the swingarm and skid plate to keep the swingarm from lifting, a pipe to jamb in the sprocket to keep the axle from turning, me (310 lbs w/ lots of muscle) on the wrench/cheater, and my friend (365 lbs w/ muscle) on the 6 foot pipe. I still strained to get it loose. Just be glad you didn't have this problem.

Oh, by the way, my axle just slipped out though.

If you're reusing the stock carrier, make sure you drill it for a grease fitting. It costs about $1 in parts and will save you the headache of changing the bearings when they get water in 'em and they rust out. It will also make it easier ini case you happen to bend another axle

Also, make sure you grease EVERYTHING in there when you put it back together. I greased the spacer and splines for sprocket and brake disc even though they don't need to be lubricated but to keep them from corroding and sticking together. An ounce of prevention.....
