Finally I got around to it and finished pulling my whole engine out! Thats quite time consuming! I'm putting the new '02 gears in cause I know my trannys gonna go out soon and I'm building the engine. Anyways, what I'm curious about is what size sprockets are good with the new gears in the dunes? Is my current setup (13/42) good for them or should I gear it up more? 14mins, what you usin in with your craycraft engine? AHH!! I can't wait to get it all put back together again and ride but I gotta wait 3 weeks [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/img] Also is there anything I can or should do while it's all still torn apart so I wont have to do it again? Powdercoat/chrome everything you can[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] Once you start you can't stop though..so be careful!

 

BigBubba- I do not have enough time on my 02 gears to tell you yet. I am still stock in the dunnes BUT my paddles are taller that stock. I am going to a 14 up front at the dragstip and lauch in 2nd. I may try a 15 up front if need be.

 

Hmm...powdercote and chrome *drool* problem is I just spent most of my money on that engine [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img] hehe! Wow 14mins, your geared high and still able to start in second and get a good jump? Oh, you have the '02 tranny though so 2nd is lots lower I guess I'll just have to play around with it after I get it back together. You think you can start in second with even higher gearing? Man that engine must pump out the torque!

 

I used to run 14/40 on 01 gears. This was on a high comp stock bore motor. 2nd gear starts were not a problem at all. With the 686, I don't see why a 15 would be a problem.
