which tires for Kodiak
#1
well it finally happened, i stuck my y2k kodiak.
sitting in about two feet of muddy slop trying to climb a three foot embankment. i dug such bad ruts trying to climb the hill, that i couldn't even back out of the mud. trust me it wasn't pretty, but luckily my moms kodaik pulled me out relativly easy.
but the question is, when i get new tires what should i get in your opinion? im gonna stick with the same height tires but am thinking of putting 12 inch wide tires in the back to replace the 10s. Will the extra width make much of a difference in the way the quad handles the muck and trails. 90 percent of my riding is done on fairly dry trails, but occansionally i will encounter some pretty nasty mud, but not very often. i dont want an aggressive tire like a vampire or mud bug. i am thinking of either blackwaters or bear claws. let me know what you think, thanks.
ps i ordered the 2000Lb superwinch as soon as i got home(kinda embarrasing to get pulled out by your mom).

Kyle,
I am running Bear Claws in OEM sizes and like them. You can go wider in the rear but not up front. They hook up well without robbing lots of horse power. The factory rep says the compound is medium leaning to the hard side. Mine are holding up well. The only problem I had was that the front 25-8-12's were a little shorter than the rear 25-10-12's. After contacting KENDA I was informed that the mold number series (4899 229) I had were an older mold and he sent me some newer ones. This number is on the side wall of the tires.
Black Waters must be good. They are everywhere. They are more money too. So I went with the Kenda's. Price them out at http://www.us23.com/tires/. Call him and see if he has a newer mold number. Mine just came in to the to the US so he might not have them yet.
