wshrdskin, get off your soapbox... this is "off-topic" so it's fair game... lol. Throw those NASCAR drivers on a road course with the slowest F1 pilots and watch them get their @sses handed to them...
Also, what is this about "It shows no class"?! practice what you preach man... lmao

whatwasthat, yeah I've watched the IROC series and it looked pretty cool. Definitely a level playing field to see who the best driver is, takes the team and technology right out of the equation. good stuff.
garyc660R, the day that Schumacher switches to NASCAR is the day I'll shut my mouth. But, doesn't look like that day will come anytime soon. . Seriously, though, what formula 1 racers have switched over to NASCAR? Now I'm not talking CART or IRL, because those are farm leagues compared to F1 racing. NASCAR isn't like AMA SX or MX where you have all the top riders from all over the world coming to the USA to compete. It isn't the premier racing in the world, and for good reason. Who would want to go in a circle all day long??? I can appreciate the strategy part of the racing, but to me NASCAR is anything but "stock" car racing, and ovals are anything but tracks. If NASCAR was like Grand Prix races I'd probably watch, but it doesn't have the variety of conditions and courses to really put the men and machines to the limit. Too many restrictions on the different cars and technology, too.
Any of you guys catch MotoGP racing? Something about having 220hp between your legs on a 350lb machine on a GP course...

I agree with wshrdskin, you guys who blast nascar don't really have a clue what it takes to race 4 or 5 hundred miles a day at a 180, 190 miles an hour, inside of a 130 or 140 degree race car. Most of the drivers are probably in better shape than most of us on this forum. As far as F1 guys blowing the doors off of nascar guys, race 2 races one in each type car, I'm sure the best in each division will be at the front in their type of race car when it's over. Iroc definitely favors the stock car guys though, I will give you that, F1 or Indy type cars weigh less than half what a stock car does, obviously 2 totally different machines. I'm not a road course fan, I prefer the ovals (jmo). I am not as big of fan of Nascar as I used to be, I really hate the politics of today as compared to 10 to 20 years ago. Maybe some of you don't realize this, but those 3400lb. stockers were running 210 to 220 at Daytona before Nascar mandated the restrictor plates to slow them down. That was with a normally aspirated engine, no turbos, superchargers, fuel injection, or computers, just good ol american pushrod, carbureted horsepower. How fast do you think the F1 boys would go considering they weigh probably somewhere around 2000 pounds less, and have much bigger tires? I'm sure speeds would be quicker, but I'd like to see total lap time comparisons, with no restrictor plates on the cup cars, overall times may be a little closer than you think, considering the weight, tire grip and downforce advantage an F1 car would have. I do like the way F1 runs even when it rains, nascar boys are wusses when it comes to getting wet. lol Any way you look at it, I have a great respect for any racer no matter what they race or where. They are gambling with their lives every time they race so we fans have something to watch.

Dude, I have a clue, I love road racing. The guys that I respect most are the long endurance racers, such as those who run the 24hrs of LeMans and the Dakar rally. Each to his own, of course...

put your F1 pilots in a Cup car on a road course and see how they react when "rubbed"
2 different worlds with completely different equipment. Much more $ to have a F1 car and equipment but do not forget the "lineman" of Nascar, give F1 5 lugs per tire, fuel can, and one manual jack and see how they fair. Also take away the on-board computers feeding the crew chief with tons of data to better tweak the car.
