Looking for that ultimate Tire/Wheel combo.
#1
I'm trying to decide on a rear tire /wheel combo that:
1) Is really tough (Dent resistant wheels and good sidewalls - desert riding conditions).
2) Is light weight (Any extra spinning weight is hard on the Rap tranny and makes the suspension work harder).
3) Is reasonably priced.
4) MUST be 22" tall (for ground clearence).
I'm currently using ITP steel wheels (for the dent resistance) but they are heavy. I've got the 22x11 holeshot XCTs (tough but heavy). As you can see I've got a very tough but very heavy combo.
Any reccomendations ?
I'm thinking of going to the Douglas Ultimate wheels (rolled edge). I've tried the std .190 alum wheels (without rolled edge or bead locks) but bend them badly.
I cant decide on tires. Anybody have good 22" tall tires that are lighter than the Holeshots ??
Thanks, Eric

You already have the best tire IMO. Get the douglas .190 your talking of and you'll be set. I've had my 22" XCTs on regular .190 douglas wheels for a year now and not 1 dent. Razors are another good desert tire. Don't know which is heavier.

I love the ITP race wheels with reinforcing rings that are on my banshee. THey look great and can't be bent. Ronnies mail order is the cheapest place for them.
I have tried Razr's on sand bars before. I couldn't go anywhere. The original holeshots that I had worked decent. The trekkers I have now turned backwards work about the best of tire I have tried. Once again, this is on a sandbar not in the desert. As you know, the sand is VERY loose on sandbars.
