Shouldnt make you run lean. It might run a little hotter though?

I'm running half 94 and half C12. I was having the same problem. My headpipes were turning red. Spoke to several sources, all the way from Dynojet to White Brothers. All said that the head pipe color was normal. Especially since aftermarket pipes are single walled construction vs. double walled on stock. Race gas should not make you run lean, you usually use race gas in conjunction with engine modifications that require you to jet larger or often you'll have a lean situation.
Also my understanding of race gas is that it does not burn hotter, it burns more efficiently, which would mean I guess a more even burn and less leftover fuel. But not an expert. Contact the fuel maker such a VP. Good luck

Any time you change fuel types you need to do a plug check.

My first answer would have been that you would be running richer/cooler with the race fuel, but this is NOT always the case.

If your pipes were not colored before, and they are now, sounds like you may indeed be running hotter/leaner.

I would not run any longer until you do a proper plug check at 1/2 and full throttle (needle position and main jet respectively).

The plug check needs to be done with a FRESH WHITE PROPERLY GAPPED PLUG.

If you don't do this, you are only guessing as to whether or not you are jetted properly AND you may risk engine damage.

Yes. New properly gapped plugs.
If it just started snowing, I am assuming it is colder outside.
If that is true, then you may indeed be running leaner.

As temperature drops, your bike will run leaner. As the temp increases, it will run richer.
Also if your bike was working harder in the snow, and getting less air to the radiator, that could also cause the Banshee to overheat.

Get the quad warmed up, pull the old plugs, install the new ones and do a couple of plug chops.

If you don't have any color, or if there is very little color on the plugs, you are running lean and heat is gonna build.

P.S., why are you running race gas?

If you don't have some serious motor mods, you are wasting money on race gas.
A stock, or piped Banshee does fine on Super Unleaded.

Your still wasting your money on race gas. The purpose of high octane gas is to control detonation (pinging) which will kill top ends quickly. If you dont have the proper compression to burn it right, you actually have less performance, and more residue inside the engine because the race gasses are very leaded. Only run as much octane as needed to control detonation and in the summer months it doesnt hurt to have a little extra. Also race fuel will run richer than regular gas unless again the compression is there for it.Bubba
