I would take a used pos banshee, strip it bare and clean it up, sell the engine on ebay, put an R-5 engine on it and install a turbo. Leave the rest stock Should be good for atleast 200hp and would be pretty reliable while keeping weight down and needing no special tranny.

The triples are slow. There are 2 or 3 that actually run worth a damned, but they have a lot more then 8k just in the motor. Everybody wants to build a banshee. Banshee's are fun yeah ok, but banshee's are supposed to win every time. Its a lot funner when you pull up with a single cylindered honda and blow their doors off.

I agree with the snowmobile motor, in any frame, 150+ HP and 9000 RPM's, out of the box, parts everywhere, Polaris 700 or 800, Bom 800, Cat 800, 900 or 1000, or a yama 700.

We're going to built one, honda frame 1000cc motor, plan on running in the low 3's in 300 ft.

Use the 4,000 dollars left over to bet with, any takers?

You could try and locate something from Europe they made some big 2-stroke singles for their bikes over there 700 or 750cc I think. There was even one company that grafted 2 500 singles together for a whopping 1000cc 2-stroke. They used it in sidecar racing.

ill take your bet shogun. I seriously doubt your run a "low 3" since that is what the record is, and he has a heck of a lot motor then you'll be running. Snomobile motors dont run as fast as you'd think they would because the belts and jack shafts suck a lot of power. They are heavy as well. Id take a 500cc banshee motor in a drag race over an 800 snomo any day

Beech,

the record is 3.146 @ 104 MPH ATVDRA, Top ATV. The problem with what your saying is your 500 shee runs in a smaller class than that, the record for that class is 4.103, A 350 shee that Trinty built holds that record.

You've been standing behind that 2 stroke to long with the motor running, a 500 two stroke that is mod to the hilt isn't going to beat a 1000cc 2 stroke and that's before there has been any work done to it.
1000cc-500cc=500cc.

Sorry to disagree, but time will tell.

Beech, your kidding me right? Some of the fastest quads at KOTH on Memorial were bikes with sledds in them and dont ell me they were not cause i have every race on video. If you were running in the races then I have you running too. Might have to go watch again. And the fastest or close to the fastest was the white knuckle triple shee. The fastest I have on tape from what i can tell though is the GSXR equiped shee on NOS. I was there so I know. Do you know what that Orange shee is that flipped the next day and rolled down the Mtn? He was pretty damn fast too.
