Default Sand Dune Tire Question!

Hey i have a 2001 Raptor with 2001 tranny, .5 bore 11:1 weisco psiton, stage 2 web cam, pro flow foam (no lid), jetted at 185:180 with dyno jets & needles, big gun exhaust (full). I have a set of 8 paddle straight sand tires and i really rev high in 3rd gear but dont have enough to pull 4th well, stock sprockets. I am thinking about getting a 9 paddle tire with the same dimentions as the one i have. What would be a good tire to get, and will i pull 3rd faster with a 9 paddle, provided i have the horses to do it?

You cant pull 4th? At all? If you can't get 4th to rev out then your running lean most likely.

Are you having problems pulling 4th gear up a hill? Going to a 9 paddle isn't going to help at all with that... infact it wil cause to to bog down even more. I'd stick the 8 paddle tires and either gear down the front one tooth or add 2-3 on the back.

9 paddle won't help a thing....in fact it will get worse! Stick with your 8's and go to a 12 tooth sprocket up front.

What brand of paddles are you useing. If you are using some crappy brand that will also be your problem. Hopefully you have haulers on though.

Maybe you guys misunderstood me or i missinformed you, i can pull 4th but it doesnt pull it 'well' as i said. i dont gain and speed and it slowly bogs down, its a pritty steep hill. and i wasnt saying getting the 9 paddle to pull 4th i was saying getting the 9 paddle to pull 3rd gear faster.

How exactly do i know if it is too rich when it runs fine, its set up to dumont elevation. It sputters a little bit mid throttle where i live now, but other than that it runs fine. The plug looks too white with 175:180

hmmm... 148/150 dynojets are the largest that come in their kits. 180/185 dynojets seems huge to me. just my $0.02.

Put two teeth smaller on the rear or go to a slightly taller tire. You aren't going to get fourth to max out so concentrate on how you can improve on third gear gearing, Gear up just a little. Don't over do it.. Adding one up front will probably be to much..
