Default Rear tire and wheel weight

Here's what I found:

1) ITP Holeshot XCT 22X11-9 tire = 18.5 lbs
2) Maxxis Razor II (M934) 6-ply 22X11-9 tire = 17.6 lbs
3) Maxxis Razor (M932) 6-ply 22X11-9 = 16.3 lbs
4) GBC Shredder R/A 6-ply 22X11-9 tire = 16.9 lbs
5) Kenda Klaw XC 22X11-9 tire = 19.0 lbs
6) Kenda Knarley XC 6-ply 22X11-9 = 15.4 lbs

1) Douglas Ultimate (conventional center) 9X9 wheel = 5.5 lbs
2) ITP T-9 race wheel (welded rings) 9X9 wheel = 6.0 lbs
3) Stock rear Raptor wheel = ?????
4) ITP Steel 9X9 = 9.0 lbs

The weights are based on speaking with reps and web site info......

Important note for 01 Raptor guys - the spinning weight of a heavy tire/wheel combo puts more stress on the tranny and rear suspension than a lighter package. The heaviest combo is 28 lbs per side, the lightest is 20.9 lbs per side. That's a 7.1 lb (25%) per side difference. Also, a lighter package lets the motor rap up quicker, thus a snappier response.

Food for thought

I think it's worth mentioning......I'm going on a tire/wheel diet !

Good luck, for the lightest wheels there is a company making modular carbon fiber beadlocks. a little bit more expensive then top end bead locks. Supposed to be lighter though.

Slowly filling in the blanks:

Maxis Razor II (M934) 6-ply 22X11-9 tire = 17.6 lbs
Maxis Razor (M932) 6-ply 22X11-9 tire = 16.3 lbs
GBC Shredder R/A 6-ply 22X11-9 tire = 16.9 lbs

The HiPer wheels are surely the lightest but out of my price range....

Good question - I dont have either any more. Maybe somebody with a fresh set could toss one on a scale. Keep in mind they'll be a 20" tire.
