You say your not useing the stock needles? What needles are you useing? If your running mikuni jets and Dyno jet needles this is your problem.

I didn't catch that the first time. I was under the impression the stiffer springs hinder the performance of the stage 1 cam.

PS, as for the disk style pipe and jetting. I've had no problems getting my jetting dialed in useing the Alba pipe and the disks. I currently run 18 disks though and this is closer to an open end than the 12 they reccomend.

stiffer valve springs hinder the stage 1 cam? I did not know about this. Its not installed yet. should i go stage 2? I believe im on backorder on the cam anyways.

And the needles are ones that came from alba. Not in a dyno kit. Im not sure what brand jets i have in. I will look when im jetting.

The needles will be fine then. Its Albas setup and they use Mikuni jets.

As for the hinderance issue, I could be wrong. Just somthing I thought I heard before. Talk to some of the builders on here to find out for sure. I know the springs are design to use with the stage 2 cam. It is not nessessary to change springs for the stage 1.

This is true you do not have to change valve springs when using a Hot Cams stage one. Stage two then yes!!

I also was having getting problems, 11:1, no air box, full HMF Exhaust, air screws who knows! 175, 180 mains, 27.5 idle. I am going back with stock needles and going from there. The needles I am using now I am not sure who or what they are.

Duece,

Is this a dyno kit or stock mikunis? I'm removing my air box this weekend and useing a home made stup to test. It'll use the pro design K&N filter. Where were you in jet size before removing the air box? How many sizes up have you gone so far? TIA

wshrdskn,I did all my mods at once exaust, cam, filters, iwas totaly stock,I started out with 165-170 mains and the the stock needle postion and 3 turns out on the pilot and it would cut out bad at full throttle,I m using mikuni jets by the way,the air filter im using is the slickest one ive found u have to check it out at hy-tech-atv.com and click on new products and u can see a pic of it there web site is jacked up right now so it wont give u any info on it just the pic,it bolts to the stock air box brackets and is billet aluminum and comes with dual kn's, outerwears and jets, when i order it the kid on the phone said he would send 185 190 jets with it and i thought he was crazy but he said it sucks alot of air so i told him to go ahead and send them not thinkin iwould need them but after all the jetting and plug checkn he was right on.He said a stock raptor with pipe and his set up to run the 185-190 mains and needle postion on the 5 clip down lowest setting, and with the cam maybe 190-195 and he was right tested it today and ended up with 190-195 and it was perfect.I never would of thought i would have to jet it this fat but the no airbox makes a difference.I didnt get to ride it much today just enuff to run it up and down the street to do plug checks at full throttle and kill it,and mid throttle, and idle checks, cant wait to see how it runs versus some of my buddies piped raptors to see if there is a huge difference.Buy the way the bracket has a nipple on it also to hook you crankcase hose to so its all in one instead of having to use a seperate on like some kits.Hope this helps get u close or gives somewhere close to start.

Duece,

Thats sweet looking. It looks like they use the same mounting Idea I had with the holes where the air box **** slide into. I like the crankcase breather hose attatchment. How much did this setup cost ya? If ya don't mind me asking?

I just realized this place is a 20 minute drive from my house.
