*Update #11* - ongoing throttle response problem with Raptor
Okay, even though I haven't packed yet for vacation, I had to try out the new coil. I am one of those people who can't stop thinking about what is causing a problem until it is fixed. I didn't want to sit in Florida for the next 10 days wondering.
Installed the new coil. Same problem. In fact, it was almost worse. I almost had to push the bike back up my driveway into the garage. Decided to start looking at the suggestion DAMAGEINC recommended. I played with the wires around the reverse switch and the neutral switch located behind the shift lever not knowing which was which at the time. I can't really say I "fixed" anything; however, my next test ride was back to normal. I only rode for about 10 minutes with several full speed passes up the road and driveway in 4th gear. Never missed a beat. I hope to get a ride in tomorrow if I get home from work early enough. If this was the problem, I will figure out how to de-activate this switch when I get back. That is the one bad thing about "high-tech" - it is just more proof that if it can go wrong it will.
Thanks again for everyone's help. I plan to print this out so I have it for future reference.

*Update #12 (fixed?)* - ongoing throttle response problem with Raptor
Took it out again thinking all was under control. Even installed my new Silver Maier plastics, graphics, and seat cover. But, only got to ride for about 10 minutes and it is running like crap again.
I need a 2001 CDI so I can test.

Warrior007,
That could work. I take the trusty 400ex with me every time I ride just so I have a good standby.
The other option is that I just mail you my CDI and you test it on your bike for a day of riding. You would only need to carry yours and a 10mm wrench to switch back.
