Yes and Yes. I've owned a 400ex and the Raptor is dramatically more powerful. It's not even close. However, the handling (when both are completely stock) is a different story. The Raptor is better in the whoops but the 400ex handles better everywhere else. With Razrs on my Raptor, I feel that it's closer to the 400ex but it's not quite as good. If given the chance, would I buy another Raptor??? Yes, definitely yes.

If your talking about the Pro flo system it will give you peace of mind that your filter wont leak. The stock design is a poor set up. It will also allow you to run with no lid and allow you to increase air flow witch = more power with proper jetting of course. If I left something out Im sure someone will chime in.

So do any of you recommend buying my raptor from www.albaaction.com and get it already somewhat tricked out? I don't even know what they do, but it sounds like it might be a good option.

You seem to be interested in all around upgrades, not just motor. To make the raptor handle a ton better throw down for some decent shocks and +2+1 A-Arms, and a wider rear axel. Then you will be able to corner better than 400ex's and you will already have more power.

Not unless you live in CA. If you live outside of California you can get a much better deal buying it somewhere else and put on the parts that you want.

Even living in California it's not the greatest deal. I'm told by some who've tried, that Albas list price of $6,499 for all the great stuff they put on it actualy turns into around $8k out the door. The stuff you think your getting for free is paid for through setup and other types of fees. For $6499 the out the door price should be around $7200. Many seem to get their Raptors for under 6K out the door so do that if you can and put the after market stuff on yourself. jmo

Good info! What's the absolute strongest skid plates for the raptor? I want a full set including the a-arms, full length undercarriage, rear swingarm, and anywhere else people put them. I want to be fully guarded for big rocks, which is a lot of what we ride on.

I want to get as many parts from the dealer so I can finance it all together, rather than doing it piece by piece. So who knows what the best full pipe is for low to mid range power? The best jet kit? I want to know the absolute best parts for trail use. Some have been answered already, but some have not. You guys are awesome at helping me decide what I should get. Any recommendations would be great! Keep em coming, please! I want to have a pretty tricked out Raptor right from the beginning.

Chris

If your getting your quad from a Yamaha dealer he should already have the GYTR skids all around in stock. They are as good as any but cost more also. Others like the PRM might not be in stock and will have to be ordered. If you don't go GYTR skids then be sure the swingarm skid is aprox 1/4" thick. PRM's are and some others GYTR is also. The GYTR belly skid is the best looking imo. get the pro design filter setup also, K&N or Foam, your choice.. The stock filter is a joke and can't be trusted.

Most any of the pipes will get you much added low and midrange power, get the one that you like the look of the best. As for jet kits some say the stock mikuni is all you need, others like the GYTR kit, I'm partial to the Dynojet kit myself.

Have them throw in a swirl or other of your likeing graphics kit on top of what you buy. After spending that much money they should at least give up a free graphics kit.

I was in your boat last year. Get a K&N air filter and K&N jet kit. You will like the results but especially when you buy a FMF powercore 4 muffler. If you want to add the headers too remember the sky is the limit and thats after your bank account. Do the jet kit and the muffler at the same time that should cost you around 300 bucks. Rock on brother
