Default First time dune trip

This will be my first time at Silver Lake this year with sand paddles. I have used the **** tires for the past two years but, when the sand is real soft I bury myself.....alot. I am told once I use these sand tires, I will never go back to my others. I really enjoy Silver Lake and if you make it up the first dune the rest will be a breeze. I spend the whole day riding the dunes. I can ride around the lake and flat lands at home. I just have not gotten up the courage to jump or race yet....

Sand skate 1's are better than 2's. They are hard to find though. I suggest the edges over the stake 2's. Haulers and Edges are both cheap, light, and very good sand tires. Go with those. You can use your knobbies the first time, just lower the pressure to like 3 lbs in the rear. See how you like it. Then buy paddles if you plan on coming back. Most likely you will love it.

I've ordered a few things from rocky mountain and always get it fast. They have a really good selection of tire and rim combos. Check out the scratch and dent link on thier page. Sometimes they have some really good deals in there.

If you are considering sand tires for Silver Lake I would definitely recommend them. besides, that is all that is there at Silver Lake........Just sand. It's not like some places where there is a little sand, alittle dirt and some woods trail riding. It's all sand.

It is a nice place to go, especially if you go next month. You will have the run of the place. Have fun.

Sand Devils are an inexpensive way to go.

I'm also in search of paddles for the beach and the dunes. anyone tried the GBC Sand Shark paddles?.......... or should i stick to the edges or sand skates. Where i ride is mostly beach so are paddles needed, though there are also dunes?

Sand Sharks are ok if you are riding a stock or low HP bike. Once you make some HP you will need something more if you want to race and be competitive.
