it wasn't a dirtwheels tell, we were going out and thought it would take out some of the faster banshees but it just didn't work well. maybe it was a tuning thing, i don't know raptors well enough to say. i know the stock bore piston cam one ran good, and the 770 sounded fine, but with the new carbs maybe it was really lean or something. i wasn't trying to pick on it i was as disapointed as most, heck it is a guy i ride with about 6-8 times a year. but beyond that your right just another story and every one has one, just replying to the thread.

 

I had a stock bore that ran very well, Raptor 74LV & wshrdskin both still have strong running stock bore bikes. I did just as your mech. suggested. Built it up with the stock bore piston, then when it's time for a rebuild GO BIGGER & BADDER!!!![img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

Hey SANDMAN430 - I was just joking with ya, dont take it seriously. We all make fun of Dirtwheels in here if you havent noticed. We all ride for fun and hopefully we are all being civil in what we say. At least I am and hope know one really takes me seriously when I say something like that in here. Now, I still havent got an answer to my question yet on the stock bore and what Piston everyone recomends??

Its a pretty basic setup. I sent the head to Craycraft for the porting and then I reassembled the top end with a new piston, the Craycraft head and a new cam. Got the jetting right on the first try and it seems to run pretty damn good.

 

i ask my raptor friend he got the je piston i think it was 12:1 and hotcam i didn't ask if stage 1 or 2, at first it didn't inpress us but then he got it jetted right and it has been getting stronger and stronger, he wins a lot of races a the hill but i would say it is more the rider than a really great set-up, not a put down on a machine he just does well on anything he rides.

 

sandman its REALLY a great set up if properly tuned right, thats the key

 

Actually its both, I have seen guys with built raptors and DS's and my buddy that has a Raptor that has only piped and jetted it can out ride them thru the tracks. It is the rider in most cases. Now if your talking drags its more the bike on that situation.
