Default Raptor break-in help!

Just got two Raptors.

The owner's manual says nothing about changing the oil and filter during break-in.

When should I complete the first oil abd filter change?

What viscosity oil do you recommend for sea level riding in Mexico and desert riding in Phoenix?

I returned my two Predators last week and got these. Check out my Thread, "Sold my Banshees, Bought two Predators, see ya!"

Thanks,

Rob

For break-in...I recommend riding the Raptor no more than half throttle for 10 min. then turn it off and let it cool. Repeat for another 10 min. let it cool. After that ride it like you would normally be using it. Change the oil and filter and adjust valves after 10 hours of use. I use Valvoline ATV 4-Stroke Oil in mine and it hasn't failed me, even after grueling desert and MX races. JMO.

Kewl!

Should I run the Yamalube 10w-30 or 10w-40?

When should I make the first oil and filter change?

Well first off you claim to be a "pro-rider" so maybe we should start off by changing that. Second; after about a tank of gas, every dealer or mechanic i have talked to say your quad is broken in and that is when you should change your oil. Third; the weight of oil you use depends on the temp. outside. I think if your riding in the desert you should use 20w50. I use bel ray oil.

I personally wouldn't go as high as 50 wieght. 40 does the job for me. I've used 40 wieght and its gotten me through many hot, hot desert races without failure. Trust me, stick with 10w40!!

You don't pick what type of rider you are, it's determined by the # of posts you have.....

ctportedrap:

Let me start off by saying you are ignorant!

I have never claimed to be a "Pro Rider." That is something this website automatically identifies a member as when they have belonged for a specific amount of time and contributed regularly.

I don't want your advice...nor do I need it!

To everyone else I have communicated with on this site...thanks for all of your help!
