Default everything i should know about raptor break in??

ic ic, i didnt mean blippin the throttle, im not that pathetic. I meant like hold it at one position for 3 seconds, increase a little for a while, decrese for 5 seconds like that kind of thing, so the motor is never at the same rpm for too long a time. O and btw, after when im doing these increments, do i let the engine warm up before i take each ride. I know i have to let it cook completely but after it does and i go again, should i warm it up or just start and go..

Does anybody disagree with warming up your atv engine...atleast when its all broken in? thanks again for your help, warrior

Default everything i should know about raptor break in??

I just picked up my 03 LE raptor last friday, I am just going to ride in nice and easy, no full throttle or anything like that, as soon as the "NEW" quad smell is burned off, I am going to beat it like a red headed step child!!!!

Ride it fairly hard!! If you ride it easy the rings wont seat like they should. The first 20 min of the breakin is the most important anything after that dont really matter. You must vary the throttle from idle to WOT while you go through the gears and let of the throttle and let the comprssion of the motor slow you down. Do this often for the first 20 min.
This is guarenteed to work best every time. Ok, lets say you babied it the whole time your rings wont seat very good causing blow by= LOST POWER. Now the same quad with breaking it in the way I stated will have more power, be more reliable, and last a lot longer. It will go faster if you break it in this way compared to if you baby it. This works because there is more pressure and the pressure is more equal throughout the whole piston ring causing it to seat with the cylinder wall all the way around the rings making a better seal, more compression, and more power. This does work, ask people who have babied their breakin and their friends SAME quad will be faster and they dont know why. This is an important secret to a breakin. CHOOSE WISELY.

pushinlimit, thanks for the reply!!! see, i knew there were basically two different theories to break in although everyones is a little different. As far as babying it goes, my version of babying it would not be to ride it past half throttle and then consider it broken in and go ***** to the wall after that. Mine was more of a gradual break in like ward said. My mentality naturally would think that this gradual bring in would be less of a shock/strain on the engine because it has time to adapt.

This does not mean im going to do it this way, this is why i made this thread!

Can i please have more opinions on the best way to break my raptor in???? please.

All i want is a super reliable, super smooth, powerful quad. What will best condition my quad for the punishment im going to give it?

Please more replies!!!!

Id really like to get to the bottom of this. Does anybody have factual information on any of these two theories. Ok, thanks, warrior

I rode my 03 raptor 250 feet to the dyno. 3 runs later i took it apart. I would run it 30 minutes let it cool, run it another 30 minutes and let it cool (all fairly easy) run it about a hour a little more agressive. For the first tank i would not going drag racing or lug the motor. After the first tank change the oil and let it rip. In reality 10 minutes is probably all it needs.

wow!!!. that is the best article i have ever read in my life. So not only should i break it in hard, but i should make sure there is no synthetic oil used.

Does anybody know what oil is in the raptors from the factories, or does it depend on the dealership? and what kind of oil is it? thanks, you guys are the best!!!
