Fried head!
Cracked open my project RD engine and the pistons look like they've been through world war 3, as well as the heads. Can banshee heads be fixed after something like that happens? Or do you usually have to buy an aftermarket head when that happens. Only option for me with an RD engine is some old DG heads that turn up on ebay every now and then. Or buy used stockers. Would be great if somone could get all the nicks and pits out of it.

http://ftzracing.com/, my brother races 250cc Micro Sprints and we get a lot of work and parts from them, it's one of the best places to go for 2 stroke engines.

I can't really tell by looking, but I am guessing it is from either too much timing (can't remember if the RD's were adjustable), too lean, fried lower bearing, or quite possibly engine sat to long. If the engine has sat for a couple of years without being ran, the rings can stick. When the rings break loose upon starting the engine, they can cause the ringland (area above the rings on the piston) to break off. The piece of piston is what actually beats up the head/piston. Since you said that yours is broke, this is what I think it is.
Is there any damage on the piston besides the pecking that goes about 1/4 inch in from the outside? What I mean is the center of the piston damgaged? If it is on the outside 1/4 inch only, then it is probably from jetting or timing. What happens is the squish area creates hotspots that melt the piston/head. Can you load a pic of the piston?
