Real weight of a Grizz!!!
#1
You always wonder about published weights by the mfg.r's. I couldn't see how a 500 H.O. Sportsman could be 100 lbs. heavier. ( Yamaha says their Grizz is 600 and polaris claims 700, both dry) I took my Grizz to the Dept. of Transport weight scales and checked it out. The Grizz with 1 gal of gas, 26" bear claws ( 4 ply), warn winch, hand warmers and approx 10 lbs. of other stuff ( total of about 40 lbs. greater than dry from factory) and the Grizz weighed 702 lbs. These scales are designed for large trucks so when I questioned their accuracy I was put on the scale and was 6 lbs. heavier than my bath scale. This accounts for clothes that were being worn that are not usually worn in my bathroom. I don't know if Yamaha includes anti freeze, approx. 7 lbs. or motor oil, approx 5 lbs. Remarks?????

702lbs is about right. Your a little off in what you think your tires and winch weigh. I put 26" Bearclaws on the Grizz that I used to own, and they were 42lbs heavier then stock. The winch weighs about 20-25lbs, then add on your other 10 lbs of stuff. So your add-on stuff put a extra 75-80lbs to your Grizz. ATV Sport weighed the Grizz wet (full of all fluids) and came in at 641lbs. So you add that to your add-on, your at 716-721lbs wet. And since you only had 1 gal of gas, that would put you around 700lbs. So I would say the scale is very close.

Hellfish, I plan on doing just that. Waiting to see the new Rincon. Hoping that Yamaha will come through with some fixes or some design changes for the '04 and make my dealer take this one on trade. Our local dealer handles Yamaha, Honda & Suzuki. Glad to hear that yours works.
