I have some rust on my fmf gold series fatty pipes and in some other areas. I recently bought it and I am trying to clean it up. What can I do to rid the rust safely?

It takes a lot of work, but steel wool works pretty well.

Get some CLR! its the best stuff ever! Im sure u can get it at any home place. Like home depot or something. All you need is a fine steel or brass brush, apply the CLR then it rubs the rust away. I had BAD pits of rust in my pipes, with about an hours work there was no more rust. It also takes the blemishes off chrome and aluminum.

SOS pad is the way to go, then a little autosol to polish and protect them.

i tried this and it worked good. put some of that washing up liquid you wash your dinner plates with and put it on tin foil. rub it over that rust and it should come straight off. then wash off the liquid, dry it and apply an anti rust spray and you should be fine.
