banshee exhaust
#1
ok just trying to help a friend out here with his banshee (im a z400 rider). He has the full exhaust but we only put the slip ons on for now. The stock slip ons slide in the stock pipe..but with the FMF pipes it will not slip in or over the stock exhaust, so we just have the clamp holding the slip ons and the exhaust together. My question is are slip ons for a banshee suppose top be like this or is it actually suppose to slip over the exhaust. The way we have it seems to be working and cannot feel any exhaust leaks. He has the full exhaust but is not ready to jet yet so he just put the slip ons on for now. If anybody could help thanks in advance.

i'm not sure about this, but i think they are suppost to go on as a set. i don't think you can put just the stingers (end part) on the stock pipes. if you have it not leaking then i would say it should be fine, but i'm not sure. these are just my thoughts

Im sorry to put it like this but thats really just stupid to do that, the larger part preformance gain are not in the stingers they are in the pipe itself, he should have just left it alone until he was ready to jet, And the ends arnt designed to fit onto the stock pipe, just take them off and put the stockers on until u can jet ur not really helping anything and just taking a chance of messing somthing on them up........ sorry to have to put it like that but its the truth.

thats not the point we both know it is not going to do anything power wise. we only put them on to change the sound up a little. so can someone answer the question are they suppose to slip in or over the stock exhaust or are they suppose to be clamped together?

In reality there's no such thing as a "slip-on" for a 2 stroke. The pipes and silencers are a matched set. If he has the pipes then just put them on and rejet. There is virtually no performance gain from the silencer only.
