I would just like to get evryones opinion on doing this, if you have done it. What type of riding is it good for and how much MPH do u lose on top end. Also has anybody done this when they have it piped, and jetted. Thanks for the info.

I ran a 12 tooth all last year. I race GNCC XC and mostly ride trails. The smaller sprocket let me lug it in 2nd gear on tight, twisty, rough trails so that I wouldn't have to shift into 1st. It does give you a noticeable boost in accelleration in the lower gears.
This winter I added full Elka suspension, a high-flow aluminum airbox, and a Dyna CDI, so I can run the same trails at higher speeds than last year. I have now gone back up to 13 tooth to gain my top end back for the straights.
If you ride woods or other tight trails, or MX where you don't ever max out in 5th gear, I would highly recommend it for a semi-stock Raptor. Once you start getting into engine work and higher HP, you don't need it. JMO. Good Luck!!

I have a 12 tooth on my stock 03, and am very happy with the changes ive seen. I initially changed it because of my paddle tires, but now that I have ridden in on trails, i love it. I am able to beat my cousin and his 02 stock rappy out of the hole, and all the way through 4th. Its only after about a quarter mile does he start to catch me again, and very very slowly, maybe 2 mph, but thats giving it a lot. results were the same when we switched riders, he ordered a 12 toother the next day.
