the DG's mount with a single metal tab to one of the outer peg bolts, you cant step on them to get on very much or they will bend down, they work fine for catching ur foot but IMO not as good a the AC's, now my friends ac pro peg nerfs you can stand on the side of them and jump up and down...........

Nerf Bars??
The description of what nerf bars are used for is pretty good, but not 100% complete. They are actually intended to keep another quad's tire from wedging between your front and rear tires, usually in a ricing situation. If that were to happen, either you or the other guy would get flipped up into the air.
When nerfs were first starting to be used, they were only the bars, without the netting. People quickly learned that they caused a great deal of leg/ankle injuries when your foot would slip off the peg and get caught under the nerf bars. So they added the netting/webbing. This resulted in the happy side effect mentioned above. If your foot slips off of the peg, or doesn't fully find the peg after a jump, you have a larger surface area to catch your foot to keep it from getting run over by the rear tire.
Nerf bars are required in MX racing, I believe, because the racing is often very close and wheel to wheel. They are not required in XC racing because after the first turn, the racers are pretty spread out or single file.
