I've allways used 89 mid grade. If it does'nt ping don't up the octane you'll just be spending more to get less power. Not very smart.

 

higher octane gives less power? wow, thats new to me...is this true?

 

The Higher the octane the gas is the slower it burns & is harder to ignite (that's how it effects knock), so it leaves excess deposits & can effect performance.

 

Also the faster burn generally = more power. Of course there are exceptions to the rule. But higher octane does not = more power.

98 pump fuel. (In Belgium we don't actually have anything below 95)

 

i never knew that. So do u have to look at the spark plug to see if u have detonation? Is piston knock the thing where u actually hear a knocking noise? So i guess i should go with either low or mid grade pump fuel? thanks, i love this forum!

 

it also has to do alot with the compression of you're bike!!

My Warrior has 12:1 compression so I have to run Citgo 110 octane
