I run 89 in my raptor. That engine is about the same I think.

When my Raptor was stock....I ran 87 octane in it and it never had detonation. More octane does'nt mean more power unless your engine needs it.

actually the more octane you run the colder your motor runs andyes it does give you more power mind you not alot (unless the motor requires it ) but i t does give you more power thats why they run more octane in a big bore motor because it makes it run cooler so for the cost get thebest gas there is you will save yourself more money in the longrun

Each engine has too run within a certain heat range too make peak power....an engine below this range will make less power. If you run more octane than an engine requires, you will ultimately make less power since the combustion process is less intense.

Gary is completely correct. Octane ratings are based on pre-detonation resistance. Higher octane for higher compression and hotter running engines. It has absolutely no affect on performance unless you get too low an octane, then it will ignite too early. Stock and bolt on modded raptors and the like only need standard octane, 87, to run clean and detonation free. When you start doing engine work, thats when you need to up the octane. Premium is just a waste of money, and race gas is silly, unless you have the internal mods. Midgrade is ok also if you cant get over your idea that it must use high octane.

I would recommend a rich condition for a slightly cooler engine.
