Smitty gave great advice. You (the buyer) need to call around and do your homework. Generally the smaller the shop the more attention to detail.

Sounds like your thoughts have chnged a little on the 727's???

I have a buddy with a bad tranny so he needs to split the cases anyways. I'm telling him to put the Carrillo Rod in while he is there and go with the 727 too. Unfortunately, that means he should get the FCR's too. . . then. . . he'll need an extended swing-arm. This is kinda a snow-ball that stops at over $3k (including the tranny!)

He already has head work and an aggressive cam so, at least he won't need that!

I want to get him the right advise so. . . does everyone still think the 686 is the way to go? He want's to be able to run with the big-boys. . . can they compete with the DS 760's?

(Kinda a shoot yourself in the foot thing. Want him to compete but, don't want him to beat me!)

His tranny is busted. Don't think it makes sense for him to wait.

White 660...

I run a Trinity high compresion 727. Very pleased with performance and (knock on wood) no problems with reliability. I did trail ride my bike for a while, but now I do exclusively drag racing. I can tell you that the 727 is HARD to control on the trails!

Good luck on your choice!!!

i would go with the 686! i have a 686 and have never had problems..... while my 727 buddies are replacing pistons and headgaskets im out riding! and as far as a comparison....a well built 686 will keep up or possibly beat a 727!! i am living proof! at the last local jamboree.... i took out a 727 on the last race and one the four stroke class!!!!

Trinity 727's are super fast. Atleast the one's I have seen.

They fly.

And it's good to see TheRaptorMan back. It's about time.

Simply put though isnt a 12:1 727 gonna dramatically outpower a 12:1 686? I run the latter on FCRs and it's fast but plan to upgrade to a 727 when I update my trans and rod.

Im wondering the same, what are the power diffrences between a signature 686 from craycraft, and a 105mm piston 727 from craycraft..

I plan on puting in new rod and balance it but what else would i need,i know all the gaskets but other than that what would i need..
