Air filter and air box question?

Default Air filter and air box question?

i have an 01 kodiak with a K&N air filter and i was wondering what it would do if i took the top of the air box off? does it even do anything?

From my experience with my grizzly, any simple mods such as filter or pipe helps very little.

If you take off your lid, you will get more airflow into the motor and carb, etc.. in turn this will increase your power a little bit, but if the carburator is not set up to handle the extra airflow, it may not run as good. You can try it and see if it helps any but you may want to make sure you aren't running to rich..

Now, you doin this with a Kodiak. I assume your takin it in the mud and dusty conditions, it might not be the best idea to take off your lid. We all know mud and air filters dont mix! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
