Default My first trip to Pismo (sort of).....

I was on TDY in the Santa Maria, CA area (Vandenberg, AFB) and happened to
glance at a map and realized I was only 20 miles from the Pismo (Oceano)
dunes Yesterday, after BBQ at Moes, I had a couple extra hours before my flight so myself
and a couple other adventurous guys went out to eyeball the Pismo scene to see if it's worth going back at some point.
You can drive on the beach and get to the dunes real easy - lots of folks piling
in for Easter already. I couldn't resist seeing how my Oldsmobile Alero
rental would do in the small dunes and aired-down, RPMs up, it did pretty
good - that thing made pretty good wheel speed for a rental. We made it far
enough to get a pretty good look - I think !?. The area is smaller than Yuma (ISP) but pretty
neat since it's on the water.
Made it to the airport in time to catch the
flight but not soon enough to clean the sand and beer cans out of the car -
oh well.....

There is a place that rents DS650s and KX400s and 400exs so next TDY I'm
bringin my helmet, goggles and boots. Could be worth a few bucks to get some riding in !!
