The cummins HO is only available in a manual transmission. So far nobody beats the drivetrain offered with the Ford 6.0 they have the best motor and transmission package. Also isnt cummins on the way out with dodge? I remember reading somewhere that since diamler bought chrysler they were planning to switch to a mercedes truck diesel in the next couple years.

Go for the power stroke, they have much better base. The Fords have a better drivetrain, tranny, and everything. I know someone with the 7.3 with a 10 inch lift and 38s. he loves the 7.3. If he could tell y'all he would say the 6.0 cause its newer and more powerful, than both the 7.3 and the cummins. Ford is a much better truck and the powerstroke is a much better engine. The numbers and times wil show. Although u probably wont be racing it, the times in the 1/4 miles show that the powestroke is faster, and gets the truck goin faster. By the way the 222 HP was set by Banks. It is a Banks truck (the sidewinder, also the name of one of their power packages for trucks) and they say that all the mods r theirs, so i dont know about the bully dog thing.....but with any deisel u can add tons of HP: Banks or bully dog power kits, power programmers, intakes, propane, nitrous......
Go for the Powerstrocke 6.0!!!!!!

powerstroke all the way.. the 7.3 get a 96 or 97 best year made.. my dad had a 97 and it would get 23-28mpg pullin trailer with 5 quads 19mpg and his had a 100gallon fuel tank in back and tool box loaded with tools in the box of the truck it kicked a$$.. i suggest a 97 ford powersroe the newer ones 99+ are ok but not as good as the 96 or 97s..

The only bad thing about a Cummins is that it's a 300,000 mile motor in a 30,000 mile truck. On a side note, about the Duramax. I just got back from Buttercup today with a buddy. After comparing gas mileage. I'm not very impressed with the Duramax. He got 8MPG pulling his toy hauler. And I got 6MPG pulling my enclosed trailer with my motorhome(460 FORD). Both rigs are roughly the same Gross Combined Vehicle Weight. Approx 19,500 lbs. However, he did pull the hills better than me.
