Has anyone ever tried this place. I know it's small and out of the way, but it's close enough where I can make a day ride out of it. Anything will help.

From Sylmar you take the 14 north past Mojave. Coninue on past the Lake Isabella (178) exit where the 395/14 come together and go up (395) to the town of Olancha, take the 190 east a few miles and it's on your right, according to my map. I used to live on Ridgecrest (nothing I want to brag about) and I know Olancha is only abou 30 minutes north of there. About an hour and a half from Lancaster. It's only a 1,000 acres, I don't know what the dune structure is like etc....it's on the south end of Owens Lake, or what's left of it. If you want to try it PM me, I want to go recon this thing.

I've seen pics of it on the net, doesn't look like much but it's fun to explore new places.

 

I think it is closed to riding. call the ranger district before trecking all the way out there.

 

It's open year round, ranger station says they don't get many calls on it. I don't expect much, but if it's a day ride, what the hell, I'll ride it at least once.
