Winch Solenoid...

I have a 2001 Kodiak. I am in the process of replacing the winch solenoid. I just wanted to ask you folks where the best place might be to mount the winch solenoid. When I bought the 4 wheeler the dealership put it under the rear left fender (side with break caliper). It was a bad spot cause it got wet and muddy. And it was also touching the frame when they installed it. A drunkin' man would have put the solenoid in a better place then they did. I am thinking of putting it under the seat in the cubby hole. But I want to put it where it will be east to run the wires.

I put mine under the seat in the dry storage Box. Seems that is where everyone did. Not many other places to chose from. Drill holes to get the wires in then seal with silicone. Make sure it is down far enough or the seat frame will hit it. I did not have a small side drill so I mounted mine on the bottom.
Run all the wires along where the wiring harness runs along the frame. make sure it is away from heat and secure with alot of zip ties.
I removes as much of the body panels I could to get to where you gotta go with the wiring.
Hope this helps

i installed my solinoid under the seat in the box. i drilled holes on the left side and followed the frame. i cut the cables and installed new ends to save space in the box. i then used lots of silicon to plug the holes. i also used grommets in the holes to prevent any rubbing of the cables on the edges of the holes i drilled. i have a 2003 yamaha 450 kodiak. good luck
