If you get a job and pay for it yourself, you could probably convince him. That's how I'm paying for my raptor...

Minimum payment = 39$/month right now for a Raptor with that Yamaha deal. Not sure if it's still going on or not.

I would also recommend the 400ex or the Z400 if you want a little more power. They Z400 will beat a raptor in a drag race all the way to 250 feet so thats good for a 400. The Z should definantly have enough power for you.

Well lets just put it this way, if you get a job, all your problems will be solved, I'm on my 2nd quad, and now have my dream quad. I also have a sled which is paid off, I owe around $2000 on the raptor and I'm paying 350 a month, from 2 jobs, and I'm only 15, I get good grades, and always help around the house doing chores and jobs and so on, my parents never liked quads or sleds so I found another way to get around it, just see how your dad first reacts to it, if he doesn't like it, you may end up like me

that works but I only lasted until I had a little over 1/2 of the money, then I gave in, owe $2000 but once summer comes around I'm going to be going full time, should be payed off from July-Sept. depending on how jobs and stuff breaking goes.

First off, the 400ex is much cheaper to buy and cheaper to maintain. I have two of them in addition to the Raptor and they are rock solid and do not overheat. You can get a little more power out of them by opening the airbox and jetting. I have a Raptor and I can afford to have it but I have to say it got its nickname of "OneRide" for a reason - ride it once and it is time to fix it again. I am constantly waiting for parts to arrive. This time it is the air boots between the air filter and the carbs.

Does your dad show any interest in quads? Has he ever ridden on your BearTracker? I am guessing he has no interest already or else he would have used this as an excuse to get himself a nice quad. If he hasn't ridden it, your first task is to get him out. Plenty of girls I know that riding quads was all about getting dirty and stupid until they tried it. You have to get him hooked.

Hey man, just talk to your dad, and tell him that you want to spend more quality time with him, and you really enjoy riding fourwheelers. You're experienced, and he's not,so tell him that so he can ride your beartracker, and he should buy himself a Raptor, then, after your dad learns how to ride better, you'll switch back. But I'm sure he won't switch back after he sees how much you like it. But I'm serious though, me and my dad spend a lot of time over fourwheeler stuff. we work on them together, we hang out when we're riding, and we even sit in the familyroom and read dirtwheels together.

You do need to get a job though, for extra stuff. My Raptor has probably eaten about 5k this year. My gas is $4.90 a gallon, so we went ahead and just bought a drum of it. That was over $260.
