I found that after you clean the plastics and everything real good, turtel wax makes a product called 2001. You sray a little bit of the plastic area of your quad and it will shine up very nice. Matter of fact it looks new. You now those scratches you get in the plastic it covers it up and if you have some like nilon or vinal areas get those and it keeps them nice and looking good. And no wd40 does not mess up anything like ridley said. Just my 2 cents.

Okay, this is kinda whacky but I have a paint sprayer for my air compressor, I fill it with WD40 from a gallon can. I then mist the whole danged thing. The pipe will smoke the first time you fire it back up but only for a minute or so, no ill effects noticed and my pipe still looks pretty good. I've done this about the last 5 or so rides and it seems to work out.

I buy WD-40 by the gallons and put it in a pump sprayer and use it all over my quad, and on the wheel wells of my F-150 4x4 makes them both look real sharp after a nice washing.
