Hello,
I am REALLY interested in getting an 03 Rap, but I have a few simple questions first and I hope some of you will help me out.
First, I don't plan on doing to much Dragin(who knows maybe once I get it things will change), but I want something that is going to be fast as all hell when I get on the straights. So, if I decide that I never want to drag or for that matter even race on tracks, is it pointless to get a Rap?

Second, is the Rap good for trailing? This is my main thing. I plan on taking it on trails as much as possible and I want to be able to keep up with other bikes when doing this. I mean I am planning on taking off on the straights of course but I want to be able to hang in with all the others through mud, water, and probably a bit more water considering I live in South Florida.

Now for the third part. I have been hearing that Yami is coming out with a new bike that is a 450? Would this be in a totally different class than the 660? Meaning I shouldn't worry about waiting for the new bike to come out and just go ahead and get the Rap? Yes, I know I am new to the sport and things are confusing to me and some of my questions may seem a bit odd, but I just want to make sure that my 7k(or close to it) is going to be spent for what I truly want. Please feel free to voice any and all your opinions for they are most welcome....and I need em badly =P!

I also have an 03 rappy. I went with the blue, heard the black is easy to scratch. I ride dunes and trails. I am sure that if you read anything you heard the negatives, it is top heavy and it has weelie problems. It is a tad top heavy, however you learn to compinsate. It does have a lot of torque which gives the wheelies. I am a big guy (6'6, 275) so I went with the big motor. For me it is easy to muscle around so it rules for trail riding. Of course I got rid of the airbox lid which should be your first order of buisness ( excellent research and design for the rest of the bike but the air filter set up is horrible) In short it depends on your size and ablity, but I love my raptor! When I got it I too was new to the sport, if you have questions, post them, there are some damn smart guys floating around in here.

 

i like riding a quad thats not as big as a suzuki samurai but still has more power than i have courage! and i ride in the woods all the time. a great scoot for that, its relatively compact - REAL compact for a 660, just sit up front, it thinks its part airplane!
heard thu the grapevine that it was designed by the air force. hehe

I use my raptor for trail riding and drag racing with my buddies. I love it, if you do have to go through deep mud and dont have an airbox lid then I would reccomend practicing slow motion wheelie's, I'm trying them right now but not getting too far. Anyway the Rap for me is an excellent quad, in 5'11" and weight 155 and I can muslce the rap around no prob, It is extremly powerful and you will get used to driving and then when people say its top heavy you'll be like WHAT?
