Default 400EX Or Warrior

I'm stuck between the two.... I can get a 1999 400ex for 3,699 or,...... a 2002 Warrior for 3,999 from my local dealer.... Now heres my predicament, i'm a little honda biased as i've had good luck with them, I like the reverse on the warrior and heard they mud pretty good.... I'll do an equal amount of trail riding, mudding, and some light motocross.... Which would be the better option, both are in awesome condition.... Looking for something mud worthy but definitly still sport, and something very very comfortable.... As it will see some all day trail riding as well... Thanks guys

Get the 400ex, much faster, better handling, lighter, and as reliable as they come. If you can get it for $300 cheaper than it is a no brainer...go with the 400.

What are the ups and downs to each one, that would really help me make my decision, thanks, like I said it will see alot of trails, so I was biased towards the warrior a bit....

Both are good machines. I'd lean torward the 400ex because it's a more modern design. The Warrior design is 14 years old and it has basically remained the same - because it works - but the 400ex seems to work a bit better in most areas such as overall handling, power, and weight. The $300 savings could pay for a nice pipe and then you'd be that much farther ahead !

I'm not worried about overall speed, I want a very capable trails bike, that can still take a little motocross abuse, nothing major.... which is the better trail bike ?? Heres the 400ex http://www.rivayamaha.com/tables/po009149.shtml And here is the warrior http://www.rivayamaha.com/tables/po023020.shtml Thanks Guys

Warriors dont really take to MX well at all. Not 400ex is one of the best bikes you can buy for mx. I jsut recently sold my raptor to buy a 400ex. I dont regret it at all. I love my 400ex. The handling, power, and reliablilty of the 400ex vs a warrior is not even comparable. I have had lots of freinds with warriors that complain about them. Get the 400, its not heavy at all, you dont need reverse.

Anyone else have any info ?? I'm now leaning towards the 400ex I just wish the darn thing had reverse, just because, I ride near canal banks, and the reverse on my recon as save my *** countless times, being on the brink of sliding in, and reversing out of a bad situation.... Oh well, I'll deal with it I guess....

I would go with the 400ex if it was me. Ive ridden a 400ex and their not bad, never ridden a warrior though but I hear their dogs. Your saving some cash if you go with the 400ex.

I've owned both...the 400ex is 110% better than the warrior. The only thing I miss from the warrior is reverse, but I don't miss it enough to own another one. The suspension is okay for trails, but you start jumping a warrior, and you'll bottom out your shocks...alot. The 400ex has 10 more horsepower stock, and is more nimble in the woods. I've tackled mud, sand, silt, snow, shallow water, big hillclimbs, jumps, and just about everything else on my 400, and it always feels "just right".

Hey,

i just bought a '97 Warrior. mostly because it was the right price for me. i think i would have rather had a 400ex though. just from the limited riding i've done on my warrior, the turning feels a little heavy to me, particuraly when making a tight turn going slow. plus the 400ex is faster, not that the warrior is a dogg. i'm sure reverse will come in handy though. overall i think i'll be happy with my warrior. have fun picking one! cheers,
