Drag... raptor or lt 250 ?
Currently, there are three posts that have turned into arguments on the first page of the Yamaha forum and this is one of them. Guys, it all depends on how much money the other guy has. The LT250's I have heard were the fastest of the 250's. Maybe not the best looking, maybe not the best handling. I have had two LT500's, and while they are a pain to remedy some of the short comings, they are nice bikes. I also had a Raptor. While not modded out to kazoos, it has what probably most people have on their Raptors engine-wise, header and silencer. I prefer the power of the LT500 because it just won't stop. I may like the LT500 better than the Raptor, but that's my thing. I don't diss Raptors, I just ride the dunes alot and don't want to spend a lot of money on 4-stroke power upgrades.
BUT...
To each his own.

Ridley, you should at least know how to do business:
Take the mint 500 for $1000, then come out to the west coast and sell it for $4000.
Difference, $3000. That would mean $3000 for you to spend on your Raptor so you could beat more LT250's.
No flaming here, just thought it was funny.

Drag... raptor or lt 250 ?
Go here for videos of a Raptor racing an LT. http://www.dunereview.com/.
There is a bunch of great videos here. The LT beats the Rap the first race but the Rap wins the second. There are some races between the Rap and DS, the DS wins every time.
And whoever wasn't impressed with the C-DALE, just look at all the videos of all the quads TRYING to get up that Choke Cherry Hill and tell me how the Dale does. Especially the one when it passes the Rap up the hill.

Drag... raptor or lt 250 ?
I believe the origin of this scrappy exchange was, who would win between an LT250 and Raptor in a drag race. I own both and recently ran them against each other at St. Anthony dunes. The LT250 is an 87 with following: Wiseco piston, edges knocked off the transfer ports, Keihin 39 PWK, old aftermarket reed cage, K&N, no airbox lid, crappy old DG pipe and "Hush Puppy" silencer, stock gearing, Sand Skate II tires. Raptor: '01, restriction cut from airbox snorkel, K&N, jetted to 145-150, 12-42 gearing, old Cheng Shin V-shape paddles. With my 130 lb wife on the Raptor and 200 lb me on the 250, we raced on the currently dry lake Egin, nice and flat smooth sand. The first run she beat me by about 1.5-2 lengths, the second I won, the next couple were close to even. I needed to come out of the hole just right, get the tires going real good then weight transfer, and I would be even to slightly ahead. The Rappy has big pull once we get moving, and if the race was any farther than the 4 or 5 gears we were doing it would win every time. But, it was close enough to be fun. If the Raptor had a pipe, it would run much better, but it had a 70 lb weight advantage with the rider. That's just our experience with these particular machines...........And I have had my LT 250 since 1991, ridden it from Moses Hole to St. Anthony and everywhere inbetween, slapped out the suspension a million times on 40' jumps, and it never breaks and works like a dream. The Raptor is more comfy, but has such a "bigger" feel. Mr. Ridley might check into dealing with his insecurity once he's out of high school.
