Default 01 Raptor Back-Firing

Question for you all. My buddy has a 01 Raptor. When he starts it, it idles fine. If you try to give it any gas at all, it back fires/misses or something like that. It sounds like the choke is on, but it's not loading up bad enough to kill the motor. If anyone is familuar with a Polaris, it sounds like when a Polaris is in reverse without the override button being engauged. Does the 01 Raptor have that parking brake rev limiter thing I keep hearing about? If so, how do you get around it? He has removed both carbs and cleaned the very well, including the crappy chock cable. That was really gummed up, but all clean and blown out now. Any help would be great! Thanks in advanced!

Push the parking break linkage back into the purch and see if it goes away, or disconnect the wire down under the radiator, it sounds to me like thats it.

Is the parking brake on? I know it sounds dumb but when I first re-jetted my carbs I started the bike and it did just that.I thought something was wrong,so I tore the carbs back out, went through them again, reinstalled, and fired it up again. It did the SAME THING! By this time it's 11:00pm and I'm pissed and tired. So I said Fuc it and strated my bike to put in the shop. When I took the e-brake off it reved to the moon!Dumb mistake...But I'll never do that again!
Something to check anyway!
Good luck.

Thank you very much for all the help, it was that wire up by the clutch lever (parking brake). Is there a way to override that so it doesn't happen again? Or a way to get it to stay in there better? We figured that when we were adjusting the clutch, that's when we pulled it out a little bit. Thanks again!

Might try doing a search on "parking brake." I'm pretty sure there were some good posts on this last summer.
