catching air on my raptor
#24
Thanks again guys and girls. I used a John Deere 4400 with a loader. I am going to get a pic of it and put it on my page. Sometimes my cousin comes over and helps me out with building the jumps. He also has a John Deere but it is a 790. As for the editing, I used pinnacle studio deluxe and adobe premiere 6.5. I used pinnacle studio to transfer the video from the camera to the computer then used adobe premiere to edit it and then used pinnacle studio to burn it. I probably sounds complicated, but it isn't that bad. I would recommend pinnacle studio to beginners and adobe to the more advanced. Good luck to those who are planning on making a video. I hope to see more on here.

Here is another clip. This time, it is during the winter when my cousins came over and we raced around my field. The quads didn't really have a chance against the sleds, but it was fun. We would switch rides every 5 laps.

rap66, in the mood for some carnage? lol
hey jay, any secrets to building jumps. I noticed you said you build "SAFE" jumps. I dont know if you were just using it in your talkin or you were empasizing the fact that they were safe. If you have any tips to building, im all ears! BTW, amazing videography and nice jumps. Im begining to get mixed imput. Are you supposed to land rear wheels first or land flat on the angle of the landing if there is one. Some people seem to ride out the landing as if it was a rhythm section on BMX and some land with the front wheels in the air. Whats the proper technique?

The sleds were a polaris 600 and an artic cat 440. The quads basically had no chance. The raptors would keep up a little bit, but as soon as the person on the sled punched it, they were gone. Rap66t, yeah i have some "wrecks" if that is what you want to call them. They are basically people falling off their quads or casing a jump. Which, I guess is a good thing. I will post them as soon as I upload them.
warrior86, building jumps is just like anything else. It takes practice. The first jumps I ever built weren't that great. It also takes a little patience. I use the word "safe" because my cousin also builds his own jumps and his you usually have to dodge ruts and whatnot before you actually hit the jump. His are also do or die. Where, if you come up short you are going to get hurt and your quad is going to be totaled. It adds a little more excitement, but I would rather have a safe jump instead of exciting. If you are advancing in your jumping, like we are, then tabletops are the best thing for you. The jump I have posted is the first 60 footer that we ever hit. As for landing. I beleive that landing on all four wheels is the best way to go. That way, you are using all of your suspension and your front tires won't slam the ground when they come down. As you can see in my videos, I do not do that. I tend to pull back when I land making the rear tires hit first. It is a habit I have to break. I always have the fear of casing and I do not want my front tires catching the top of the down ramp. But, all of this is my opinion and it is probably up to the rider. Just practice and do what you like. Sorry about the length.
