Default gearing for drags

I have an o1' raptor with a x-6 sparks pipe k&n filter no lid on box, the bike is set up wider but it is stock length, I have 12 tooth in front and 42 in rear but it seems to bogg in 2nd when i drop it I weigh 200 and my friend that weighs about 140 says it does perfect for him but I was wondering if my big butt was the problem.I was also thinking about a direct shifter thanks

My raptor is a 02 but I have a friend that has an 01 and he has the sparks pipe and prodesign foam filter and adapter without a lid. He could come out in second with a 13/40 gearing and he weighs 240-250 lbs.. Your jetting could be a little off but it might not be that noticeable until a heavier rider is riding the bike. What kind of jetting are you running and what alttitude are you at?

What tires are you running? that will make a difference too, (depends on how good of a bite you are getting out of the hole).

Last time I was out, I put on a 12/42 combo too, with 21x12x8-8paddle haulers, I could take out in 2nd, but it would bog just enough to suck(in my opinion)(i weigh 213lbs).

If I took out it first(and did the banshee thing) and almost immediately shifted to 2nd, it worked ok, but of course it was trying to flip over backwards almost.

I truly believe that if you go with the 12/ 43, possibly 12/44 combo, you will be able to rocket out of the hole in 2nd, but you better be holding on tight and riding mid to front of the seat after you get going, because it is going to rare up from 2nd to 3rd and crd to 4th........but don't let off ................

Good luck
