Default What's the difference?

I am looking into buying a new four-wheeler, and have decided on a Honda TRX250X or a Honda Recon. The problem now is I am stuck and don't really know how to pick. Can you guys give me some differences, like handling, comfort, wheelie abilty, etc. I would really appreciate any help.

Here are there specs side by side. 2014 Honda TRX®250X ATVs I like the Recon for having front and rear racks for carrying stuff but the 250x has a little more suspension travel so it may have a smoother ride in the rough going.

Looks like the power plant and drivetrain are the same so neither has a power, speed advantage over each other.
Not sure if the recon having twin headlights would make it better for night riding. The Recon also has full floorboards and front end protection guards which is nice if you ride in rough bush trails.

From the pics the Recons seat sure looks softer with more padding.

Tuff choice, good luck.

The newer 250x with the sport clutch will be a sportier ride, better handling, less weight. Having a manual clutch will also aid with wheelies and power sliding if that is your thing.

I think fanning a manual hand clutch will get tedious in a hurry on the 229cc 4 stroke. Might be fun on a crazy Banshee or a full sort 450 on the other hand.

It is a hybrid clutch. You can use it just like the recon, it won't stall. Or you can use it like a true manual sport, just it won't stall at low speeds. Oddly enough, the only clutch I ever got tired of was on a shee. Worn clutch basket made for a sucky pull. I don't see any down side to being able to whip those tiny horses in the 229cc motor a little harder with a manual...

How big a boy are ya? If you're 6' tall over 180 lbs, the trx250ex sport ain't your quad, trust me, I got one for my kids & they love it but I'm too big for it. . Wheelies? Easy to pull off. Nimble & quick, but if you're too big for it, it's unstable, but, that sucker will run & only has one real issue-no ripcord/pulls start capabilities if your starter fails, other than that-good quad! Mine is a 2007 w/sport clutch option that you're talking about, easy

Ok guys thanks. One other thing, does the 250x have on board storage? For a small tool kit or such. Either way so far I think 250x is my quad.
