Default Is the 2005 Arctic Cat 650 H1 good?

I am looking at getting an Arctic Cat 650 H1 that has 8000 miles for $2700 and was wondering if it is a good ATV?

That is certainly a lot of miles but it looks very nice. This appears to be a dealer right? Definitely give it a good test ride before you buy. Make sure its not smoking, check the oil and make sure its at the proper level. Make sure it starts and runs properly and goes smoothly into all the gears and make sure 4x4 engages properly. Check for any unusual noises like clicking and popping that would indicate worn cv joints. Perhaps they would be willing to go even lower on price, it can't hurt to try. NADA says that price is a bit high 2005 Arctic Cat 4X4-650 Automatic Prices and Values - NADAguides. Might see if they will knock a few hundred off.

Most all ATV's start out as good machines, it is how they are taken care of that determines whether they are good or not. You can always get a lemon in any brand, but I do believe that most are decent quality machines. You would be amazed at how some people care (or don't care) for their equipment. As stated.. go over it with a fine tooth comb...everything..
even take someone else along that may have some experience to help look things over. Will the dealer offer any kind of warranty? If it does look good perhaps even having an ATV mechanic look it over for a few bucks....not the ones that work at their dealership, unless you know for a fact how good their reputation is. A dealers reputation can go along way in trusting what they tell you. I have some dealers in my area that will lie thru there teeth to make a sale and others that truly want and appreciate your business.

The high mileage is the biggest concern. I bought my Grizzly last year with about 3000 miles on it for about the same price, that's about the highest mileage I feel comfortable in purchasing a used machine. I didn't buy from a dealer though, I think that would have added probably another several hundred dollars at least. How its been maintained and how and what it was used for is important as well. Definitely taking a knowledgable friend with you is always a good idea when buying any used machine. 8000 miles is well above average for an 11 year old quad so I think the price should reflect that as well. Dealers kinda put themselves in a box when they offer more for a trade in than what the machine is worth to sell a new machine, this might be the case here. Still around $2500 for a 650cc 4x4 utility quad is reasonable, even if it has a lot of miles on it. I've seen Hondas with 20,000 miles on them still going strong. I saw recently a Grizzly 700 with 17,000 miles on it for sale at a dealer. Other than looking like it still had the original tires on it(which were completely bald) it still looked to be in good shape.
