Will the quad handle differently? Will the sand slow you down?Anything you have to do differently when riding in sand? Thanks in advance, Scrambler</end quote></div>
Quads love the sand, it's so smooth and easy to handle. But it will steal 1/2 your power. LOL! That's why us Sand riders are always on a quest for more power. But no there's nothing really special that you need to know except you have to use a bit more throttle than you do in dirt.
Are you going on a Dune trip sometime soon?

I have ridden the Scrambler in the sand (an old 400 as I recall?). It has the part time 4X4 where the front drive only kicks in when the rear slips, right? It was weird, because the 4wd would keep kicking in and out, so you couldn't depend on how it was going to handle. One of the roughest rides of my life, as I recall.....
If you are running the stock tires, air them down some.
Performance in the sand is all about keeping the wheels turning, and it doesn't hurt to be ultralight eithe!. This is why the high reving machines like the Banshee, and the new generation of lightweight 450's do so well.

i'm not planning on duning anytime soon, atleast with this quad.In a couple weeks I'm gonna sell it and buy something faster.I would'nt trust this thing in the dunes because of the weight even though it's a 40 horsepower quad, and it seems most dune machines are built because you don't see a bombusa or a ds650 with a 800cc bore and a 50 shot of nitrous tearing up trails or a 610 cheetah banshee climbling up mountain trails. The bad thing is there is no dunes in indiana i think so my closest option is silver lake dunes up in the middle of michigan.BTW anybody take a utility out to the dunes?

You can still have a lot of fun in the dunes with your Scrambler, but if you have the chance to go better go for it. And yes I've had a Utility out in the Big dunes and they are fun. They offer a very different experience/challenge than a fast sport quad. Check these action shots out! LOL!! Honda Rancher 350 ES tearing up Glamis baby!!
